Working as a raspberry picker does not require formal education. However, if you have some past experience of working on a fruit farm, you will be considered a good option to hire. Physical dexterity is a given in this work. You will need to be knowledgeable about fruit picking work. Moreover, working as a picker means that you must have an eye for good fruit so that you can pick it out from bad produce.
Responsibilities Include:
-- Check assigned raspberry fields in order to determine picking activities..
-- Inspect raspberry to check them for infestations..
-- Pick each raspberry in a careful manner..
-- Place picked raspberry in punnet so as not to crush them..
-- Isolate raspberry that are damaged..
-- Fill raspberry punnets in the tray and transport them to checking areas..
-- Check all picked produce before deeming the lot perfect..
-- Ensure that raspberry are not damaged due to packing..
-- Provide care to plants surrounding raspberry picking areas..
-- Ensure that picked raspberry are not crushed or damaged..
-- Count and weigh picked raspberry in order to determine pricing and cost..
-- Pack cartons and baskets using materials such as wrapping paper and ribbons..
